How to Restore a Faded Trim on Your Vehicle
Over time, the appearance of our car can fade and become slightly dull due to general use and exposure to the elements. However, you ideally want to avoid this so your car stays in top condition.
So, what is the best way to restore a faded trim on your vehicle? At Gtechniq, we want to provide the best tips to boost your car’s appearance so it looks like a younger version of itself.
Purchase a Trim Restorer
A great quality trim restorer can improve the appearance of an external trim by up to two years, so you won’t need to worry about it frequently. The C4 Permanent Trim Restorer will return your car’s trim to its original self.
Less renowned products won’t bond chemically with your plastic car trim as the C4 Permanent Trim Restorer does, offering protection at a molecular level; this will enhance the durability of the trim tremendously without adding the unattractive glossy finish that you find with lower-quality trim restorers.
Even if your trim hasn’t begun fading yet, you can use the C4 Permanent Trim Restorer as a proactive measure against possible future trim fading, leaving it less likely to fade whatsoever; this will keep your car’s appearance beautiful and maintain a lot of its value, too.
How to Use a Trim Restorer
A Trim Restorer works similarly to ceramic coating but is designed specifically for your external trim. When you purchase the aforementioned C4 Permanent Trim Restorer, you’ll see gloves provided with the kit; it’s essential to wear these when applying the trim restorer to protect your skin. Ensuring your car is out of direct sunlight so UV rays won’t hamper your trim restoration, and that the area you’re doing this isn’t approaching freezing temperatures, you can begin the process by washing your trim first with our W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner, then drying it thoroughly.
Now, pour multiple drops of the trim restorer onto an AP1 Lint-Free Applicator Pad and spread the formula onto the trim by wiping it evenly and gently, covering every inch carefully.
To finish the job, you’ll need an MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Buff Cloth to rid the trim of remaining residue. However, don’t take your car out on the open road for another 12 hours so the trim restorer can get into the plastic molecules, and the formula’s full effects will become evident.
Once this has been completed, you’ll notice that the vitality of your trim is much improved, and the fading will almost disappear entirely. Remember to take care of your car as much as you can by regularly washing it, keeping it out of direct sunlight as much as possible, and applying protective layers like ceramic coatings or trim restorers.
